Development Manager – France (Paris/Lyon based)
Our client is a well-established renewable energy IPP with a strong presence across Europe, specialising in Solar PV and BESS projects. In France, they are actively expanding their project portfolio and strengthening their local operations. To support this growth, they are seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead project development efforts and future market expansion.
The Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new Solar PV and BESS project opportunities across France.
This role is to be based in Paris or Lyon.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Identification & Development:
• Identify and assess potential sites for Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Evaluate site feasibility, including environmental conditions, grid access, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare proposals for site acquisitions (lease/purchase) and support grid connection applications.
Permitting & Land Rights:
• Work closely with internal teams to secure necessary permits, including environmental and urban planning approvals.
• Engage with technical partners and grid operators to ensure smooth connection processes.
Negotiation & Acquisition:
• Negotiate land agreements with landowners and local stakeholders.
• Identify and facilitate potential M&A opportunities for BESS projects.
• Support due diligence and acquisition processes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation:
• Represent the company in discussions with local authorities, communities, and grid operators.
• Develop strategic relationships with key business partners and service providers.
Project & Market Expansion:
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to drive project execution.
• Contribute to the company’s long-term growth strategy in France, including hiring additional team members in the future.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development
• Strong expertise in Solar PV project development is essential; experience in BESS is a plus.
• Proven track record in the full project lifecycle, from site identification to permitting and execution.
• Experience negotiating land agreements, securing permits, and working with grid operators.
• Established network within the French renewable energy sector.
